I would definitely say that who you know in the industry helps, but it's not everything. If you can't deliver what someone is looking for, and you aren't handling things in a relatively professional way, then people move on to the next guy. I think as long as you keep your standards high from how you shoot to how you handle business, and everything in between, that overall you and whoever you're shooting for will be pleased with the results.
