First.
For those who don't have flashes like me, or don't want to use or carry them and their accompanying gear, here is your topic. I guess talk about natty light (not the drink cause I know that's gonna come up) or post pictures or whatever. You know, golden hour…
Anyway, I find it satisfying to find an awesome patch of light and get a great shot from it. Now that I have a car and can nearly go skiing at my own will and stay all day, I'll have more time to look for light and see when it's nicest. I'm not as limited and stuck to a schelude like "I only have x amount of time since my parents need to leave soon and shooting photos will waste time." First one there and last to leave, you know? Shoot during the morning, ski without gear, shoot at sunset, ski under the lights. That's my plan. The snow sparkles and gets a nice golden shine or the clouds diffuse the light and turn down shadows. I'm really looking forward to shooting some silhouettes too as well as trying some black and white with a red filter and polarizer. It turns the sky black, now if only I find a rider dressed in red or white.
I'll add this, it's at A-Basin, somewhere I wish I could call my home mountain. Velvia 100 in My yashicamat, and metered with an sekonic l208 (it's small and not fancy but does the job quite well). If the light were coming from the other direction it owuld have cool, but the rim is kinda nice.
So, discuss everything about natural light. Show some pictures, get stoked to get out there.

Natural light is awesome for shooting. Unfortunately for me, living in CNY, we have the most cloudy days of any city in the US so natural light is very hard to come by. Here are some on those select days that are actually nice weather.
Brent Whipple. Our local grom who just moved to Colorado to ski the rest of the year.

The first is cool. Skittles pop very well, which is one of the reasons I'm stoked to shoot this season. New Jersey isn't really know for aweosme light either… It was sunny all day on saturday though at Mountain Creek.

Thanks. The background really ads another layer of color and without it it would just be a regular kid covered in skittles.

yea for sure. The only thing i hate about my mountain way up in maine is that it is orented north, so during the early part of the season, the sun is so low that it never gets over the peak of the mountain and i have to ski (and film) in shadow. All i can say is, I can't wait for march

He's doing incident, I'm his twin brother and thats me in the picture with some awesome colorado rental skis as my disorderly's wouldn't fare to well out there. If you did reflected and hit the snow it would be like 1/500 (max shutter on that camera) and like f/ 1 million haha. Nah you might get something realistic, especially with that film.

Yeah, reflective won't do too well in the snow unless you knock off a few stops to compensate. Thought process was to expose for the tree bark, needles and shadows. Being velvia I knew the lit snow would turn out nearly all white. I kinda skied through there, liked the light coming through the trees and stopped to shoot.
I always use incedent though, the only time I'd use reflected is in the city or something when I'm shooting people or buildings or whatever, but then I'll alter the numbers based on what I see and know about light.

II know somebody is here. I'll be going out to colorado on saturday, obviously photoos will be shot. My knee still isn't feeling 100% cause I hurt it in vermont nearly a week ago, so I may take it easy and go on a photo mission at a bay or loveland instead of charging the steps. As usual, I'll be looking for golden light or just nice natty light. I plan on keeping a throw away camera on me at all times, just incase I do ditch my cameras and ski fast. I'll post anything good here in a few weeks when I get the negs back.
